Proctology is the branch of medicine concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of rectum, colon, and anus. There are many disorders that can be treated by colorectal surgeries. Some of them include: Hemorrhoid is swollen, inflamed veins around the anus or lower rectum that cause discomfort and bleeding. These are also called Piles. Anal Fissure is a small, oval-shaped tear in the skin that lines the anus. Fistulas are an infected tunnel between the skin and the anus. Constipation is the delay or difficulty in bowel movements and the disorders caused are colonic inertia and pelvic floor dysfunction. Cecal perforation is one of the dreaded complications of appendicitis that leads to colorectal cancer also. Hematochezia is a condition in which fresh blood passes out of the anus along with stools.
